Analysis of the socio-historical evolution of families through the utilization of major theoretical frameworks (Functionalism, Conflict, and Symbolic Interactionism). Examines the diversity of family forms and processes in contemporary society and explores the connections between families and other social institutions. Assess- ment of families as agents of socialization and as po- tential sites of social problems (violence and/or crisis).
