PRNS 1207 — MEDICAL SURGICAL I
This course serves to equip the student with the fundamental knowledge of the pathophysiology of disease processes and the appropriate critical thinking skills required to provide nursing interventions to care for patients of all ages with medical and/or surgical conditions that affect the body systems including pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions. The course also includes the application of nursing care during the prenatal, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and neonatal periods and an introduction to children's nursing care. The course also includes an in-depth study and skills practice of intravenous therapy. This content will be delivered in the classroom, skills lab and clinical setting. This course consists of 5 hours of didactic instruction and 2 hours of clinical instruction.
