CHM112 — Code B
Offered: HYBCL, ONL. CHM 222. ORGANIC CHEMISTRY II 4 cr. hrs., Lec. 3, Lab. 3 This is the second course in a two-semester se - quence. Topics in this course include nomenclature, structure, physical and chemical properties, synthe- sis, and typical reactions for organic compounds, with special emphasis on reaction mechanisms, spectroscopy, and stereochemistry. Laboratory is required. Prerequisite: CHM 221. Code B. Offered: HYBCL, ONL. CHM 257. INTRODUCTION TO MATERIALS SCIENCE 4 cr. hrs.; Lec 3, Lab 2 This class identifies the major categories of manufac- turing materials (polymers, metals, ceramics and com- posites) and examines their mechanical and physical properties. Students will perform an analysis of the structure, behavior, and characteristics of materials to aid in the proper selection of materials for specif- ic applications. In the laboratory portion of the class, students will perform hardness tests, heat treatments, and tensile tests to evaluate the effect of processing on resulting mechanical properties. Evaluation and analysis of the results will introduce the student to technical writing skills by preparing laboratory reports of experimental data. Prerequisite: None. Code C. Child Development (CHD) CHD 100. INTRODUCTION OF EARL Y CARE AND EDUCATION OF CHILDREN 3 cr. hrs. This course introduces students to the child educa - tion and care profession. It is designed to increase understanding of the basic concepts of child devel - opment and the developmental char
