INTRODUCTION TO CHEMISTRY I 4 cr. hrs., Lec. 3, Lab. 2 This is a survey of general chemistry for students who do not intend to major in science or engineer - ing, and the course may not be substituted for CHM 111. Lecture will emphasize the facts, principles, and theories of general chemistry including math operations, matter and energy, atomic structure, symbols and formulas, nomenclature, the periodic table, bonding concepts, equations, reactions, stoi - chiometry, gas laws, phases of matter, solutions, and acids and bases. Laboratory is required. Pre- requisite: A minimum of MTH 098 or equivalent math placement score. Code A. Offered: HYBCL, ONL. CHM 105. INTRODUCTION TO CHEMISTRY II 4 cr. hrs., Lec. 3, Lab. 2 This is a survey course of organic chemistry and bio- chemistry for students who do not intend to major in science or engineering, and this course will not sub- stitute for CHM 112. Topics will include basic nomen- clature, classification of organic compounds, typical organic reactions, reactions involved in life process- es, and the function of biomolecules.
