DIT 1111 - Nutrition & Wellness DIT 1111 - Nutrition & Wellness 3 Cr. Hr(s). Overview of general nutrition principles focusing on healthy food choices, disease prevention, and nutrition that supports fitness and exercise. Students will increase their knowledge of comprehensive health and wellness by exploring fad diets, herbs/supplements, use of ergogenic aids, and societal influences of personal food choices. Students will be able to identify the components of fitness and communicate the relationship between physical fitness, physical performance, and nutritional intake. Students will evaluate their personal state of nutrition based upon their food choices. Further, students will calculate their personal kilocalorie intake and burn rate. The course incorporates effective use of nutrition information from reliable sources as well as personal nutrition and health responsibility in a professional setting.
