Class Hours: 72 lecture total (when offered in the distance education format, hours will total 216) Chapter 4: Courses & Competencies__________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________2025-2026 Shasta College Catalog This course is designed to provide the student with a general background in the design, operation, and maintenance of drinking water treatment plants and small drinking water systems, and to prepare students and the experienced operator for the State Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification examination (Treatment Grades 1-2 and Distribution Grades 1-2). This course is directed primarily toward entry-level operators, industrial waste inspectors, lab technicians, maintenance personnel, and related occupations. It explains how and why the treatment of drinking water protects the environment and human health. This course may be offered in a distance education format.
