FIRS 188A — CHIEF FIRE OFFICER 3A: HUMAN RESOURCE

MANAGEMENT– 1.5 Units Note: Meet the educational requirements for Company Officer, or five (5) years as a career officer (Lieutenant or higher), or seven (7) years as a volunteer officer (Lieutenant or higher), or five (5) years CAL FIRE Fire Apparatus Engineer, or seeking Fire Marshal Certification. The instructor will determine if the Note has been met based on the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) course plan. Note: This course has a State Fire Training certificate fee collected at the time of registration. Class Hours: 27 lecture total (when offered in the distance education format, hours will total 81) This course provides students with a basic knowledge of the human resource requirements related to the roles and responsibilities of a Chief Fire Officer including plans for employee accommodation, hiring procedures, personnel assignments, professional development, training programs, promotion procedures, employee benefits, and a measurable accident and injury prevention program. This course may be offered in a distance education format.
