FIRS 102C — FIRE FIGHTER 1C – WILDLAND – 2.5 Units
Grading: Pass/No Pass Option Note: This course is one of a series needed to meet the minimum educational requirements for the "Alternate Delivery" of the California State Fire Marshal’s Office Fire Fighter I Certification, and at the conclusion of the series, the student is eligible to attempt the summative testing needed to complete the Certification. The California State Fire Marshal’s Office requires a minimum score of 80% (a grade B or higher) to be eligible for the summative testing of Fire Fighter 1C (FF1C). Class Hours : 36 lecture/27 lab total (when offered in the distance education format, hours will total 108) This course provides the skills and knowledge needed for the entry-level firefighter to recognize hazards and unsafe situations; don, doff, and maintain wildland personal protective equipment; deploy a fire shelter; maintain suppression hand tools and equipment; assemble and prepare for response; construct and secure a fireline; reduce the threat of fire exposure to improved properties; and mop up and patrol a fire area when working with wildland fires. The lecture portion of this course may be offered in a distance education format.
