This course examines the theoretical perspectives, research methods, and core concepts of sport and exercise psychology as a social and behavioral science. Students will analyze how psychological variables such as personality, motivation, emotion, learning, and social influences affect participation and performance in sport, exercise, and rehabilitation settings. The course also explores how participation impacts psychological well-being across diverse populations, including considerations of gender, age, culture, and group dynamics. Topics include historical and contemporary theories, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and critical issues such as stress, anxiety, exercise adherence, unhealthy behaviors, and social change in sport.
