PHYS 1110L — Conceptual Physics Lab
(Course will be accepted when transferred in from another institution with a grade of “C” or better, but may not be offered at this institution.) Selected laboratory exercises paralleling the topics in . The laboratory exercises for this course include systems of units and systems of measurement, vector algebra, Newtonian mechanics, fluids and thermodynamics, heat, light, and optics, mechanical waves, electricity and magnetism. The following lab skills should be incorporated into each of the labs as appropriate: 1. Uncertainties in measurements 2. Precision vs accuracy 3. Systematic vs random error 4. Calculate precent error and percent difference 5. Plot data 6. Curve fitting 7. Interpolation 8. How to use a ruler, meterstick, Vernier calipers 9. Approximations 10. Unit Conversions
Prerequisites: MATH 1101, MATH 1103, MATH 1111
