THEA 3433 - Musical Theatre History THEA 3433 - Musical Theatre History This course gives students the opportunity to evaluate and compare a variety of musicals from the nineteenth century to present-day Broadway musicals, including minstrel shows, vaudeville, operetta, musical comedy, opera on Broadway, and rock opera. Students will examine composers, lyricists, producers, directors, choreographers, and performing artists who have contributed to the development of musical theatre. Students will identify historical and cultural references and assess performances viewed in class and online to formulate an opinion of each production. Spring.
