ENGL 4003 - Teaching People from Other Cultures ENGL 4003 - Teaching People from Other Cultures Students in this course will address many of the cultural issues and questions that exist in the field of teaching English to students of other languages (TESOL). Students will explore the complex relationships between cultural values, language and language acquisition, nonverbal behavior, and patterns of reasoning. Students will be introduced to difficult questions about the cultural roles that the teaching of English plays for English language learners. The ultimate goal of the course is to increase students’ cultural awareness and teaching effectiveness and to decrease culture-based misunderstandings in the classroom. As needed.
