GSP 062 — ESL: Beginning Literacy 1-4 Hours

This course is designed for ESL students who have little or no literacy skills in English or their native language. The purpose of this class is to introduce English language literacy skills such as recognizing and writing the letters of the alphabet, identifying sound and letter correspondences, recognizing and writing numbers, responding to basic commands, and answering and asking questions about familiar topics. This course may be taken four times for a maximum of 16 credits. Repeatable: This course is repeatable three times for a maximum of sixteen credits. NOTE: This course may not be counted toward degrees or career certificates. Prerequisite: BEST Literacy Score of 0-20; CASAS Score of 0-180. Semester Hour(s): 1-4 hour(s) Lecture / Lab Hours: 1-2-3-4 lec/week
