ESL9083 — Noncredit Intermediate College Listening/Speaking for Multilingual Students II

Units: 0 Hours: 54 hours LEC Grade Options: Pass/No Pass Advisories: ESL 9080 with a grade of “P”. Students are strongly advised to enroll concurrently in the ESL reading/writing course of the appropriate level ( ESL 9082 , ESL 9085 , ESL 9088 , or ESL 9059 ) based on placement exam scores and multiple measures. In addition, students are strongly advised to enroll concurrently in the ESL grammar course of the appropriate level ( ESL 9081 , ESL 9084 , ESL 9087 , or ESL 9089 ) based on placement exam scores and multiple measures. This noncredit course is designed to develop listening comprehension and oral proficiency of academic English for the non-native speaker, at the high-intermediate level. Listening focuses on note-taking and comprehension of spoken English in academic situations, media, and discussion. Speaking focuses on English fluency, proficiency, and strategies for discussion and personal interaction. Noncredit courses may be repeated.
