INTP 1440 - Orientation to Interpreting INTP 1440 - Orientation to Interpreting 3 Credits This course introduces students to the profession of sign language interpreting. It covers the history of interpreting as a field of professional practice, the required professional ethical and performance standards, the impact of legislation on the field, the phenomena of cross cultural dynamics, oppression of minority groups and the role of an interpreter as a cultural mediator. 3C/3/0/0 Prerequisite(s): INTP 1500 Interpreting Process with a grade of “C” or better
