ARTS 1756 - Metal Arts ARTS 1756 - Metal Arts 3 Credits This course is an introduction to the use of welding and the manipulation of metal as a tool of self expression and creativity. Students are introduced Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding, metal finishing and other assembly techniques to create 3-D artwork. The beginning of this course is devoted to the technical aspects of welding, lab safety and creating with metal. Once the technical aspects have been covered the course transitions to creative exploration, aesthetics, and meaning. Classroom discussion will also establish a fundamental understanding of creating art and critically discussing sculpture as a form of self-expression. 3C/1/2/0 Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) Goal Area(s): Goal 6
