Offers students a clear and thorough introduction to the resources and practice of Western music with a focus on formal and harmonic analysis. Examines a variety of compositional forms of Baroque & Classical eras and explores the ways that their renderings live in the music of our time. Topics include the study of binary, ternary, rounded binary, sonata-allegro (or first movement form), rondo, and fugue. Course Learning
