NUR 11402 - Nursing Concepts/Health Assessment NUR 11402 - Nursing Concepts/Health Assessment This course prepares Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for the transition to the role of the associate degree Registered Nurse (RN) by equipping them with advanced health assessment skills and knowledge. The theory component focuses on comprehensive health assessments, including head-to-toe assessments, intravenous (IV) therapy, and the management of IV complications. Students will also explore the identification and management of fluid and electrolyte imbalances in adult patients, using the nursing process and the Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (CJMM) to prioritize care. Additional topics include effective communication skills, such as the use of the Situation-Background-Assessment-Recommendation (SBAR) tool for reporting, and the development of teaching-learning plans tailored to individual patient needs. Legal and ethical principles, supported by evidence-based practice, are integrated throughout the curriculum. The clinical component provides hands-on experience in acute healthcare settings, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
