FOR 17 — Introduction to Forest Surveying
Students will learn the use of basic surveying equipment such as hand compass, staff compass, topographic and engineer's chain, electronic distance machine (EDM), total station, automatic level, Global Positioning System (GPS) and Philadelphia rod in the measurement of distance, direction, and elevation. Collecting, recording, and plotting field data using field workbooks, and/or computer software will be learned. Field trips may be required in this course.
