Course ID 135467 Introduces principles of aseptic technique, sterilization, disinfection and antisepsis including environment safety and control, CDC and OSHA requirements. Presents packaging, storing, and dispensing surgical supplies, principles of wound healing including types, stages, and complications; types, preparation and care of surgical supplies, packing, dressings, catheters, drains, tubes, supplies, and equipment; classifications of instruments, sutures and needles. Describes responsibilities related to the scrub and circulating roles. Provides students practical experience in the operating room. An additional career and technical education course specific fee of $50.00 per credit hour applies to this course. The price is discounted 50% to $25.00 per credit hour for the 2026-27 academic year only. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 6 hours. Total 8 hours per week. Corequisite: SUR 140
