AGR151 — Applied Agriculture Techniques
Physical activity demands persist for many livestock producers, farmers, ranchers, farm laborers, machinery repairers and other agricultural workers – they could be termed “agricultural athletes”. Some agricultural jobs require heavy lifting, and repetitive movements that overuse certain muscles, bones and connective tissues, such as picking fruit or bending over. Applied Ag Techniques includes various activities in the areas of stretching, body mechanics, safe lifting, ergonomic tasks, warm-ups, range of motion and restorative hydration. This course will explore all aspects of common agriculture work and physical activity with an added emphasis in the areas of personal safety, health risks, OSHA job requirements. Use of leadership, communication, time management and decision-making activities will be included.
