MEDIA 177 — Introduction to Live Audio

This course is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of live audio production, focusing on the core skills, equipment, and techniques required for working in live sound environments. Topics covered include the basics of sound theory, audio signal flow, microphone techniques, sound system setup, mixing, and troubleshooting during live events. Through hands-on experience and practical exercises, students will gain the knowledge and confidence to work as part of a live sound team for concerts, events, and theatrical productions. This class may include students from multiple sections. This class has a $20 media course fee.
