AVIT1410 — Fluid Lines: Materials, Hardware, Processes & Corrosion
The course includes instruction on tubing and hose materials, applications, sizes, fittings, rigid line fabrication, installation, and inspection techniques/practices. Topics include various aircraft materials, hardware, and processes including the various types of nondestructive inspection. Instruction on performing simple inspections using dye penetrant, eddy current, ultrasonic, and magnetic particle inspection is included. The basic principles of heat treatment of both ferrous and nonferrous metals and identifying properly and improperly made welds. This course also covers the selection of cleaning materials, emphasizing their relationship to the type of material being cleaned, the identification of the various types of corrosion, the evaluation of corrosion damage, the proper way of removing the corrosion deposits, and the treatment of the corroded area. Prerequisite(s): ENGL 1010 and MATH 1010
