Developmental English & Math Crosswalk Terminology Gateway course: • English: ENG 111 • Math: MAT 110, 143, 152 & 171 Developmental (prerequisite) course: o Tied to ENG 111 • MAT 7025 (MAT 025): Concepts of Essential Math/Statistics o Tied to MAT 110, 143 & 152 • MAT 7035 (MAT 035): Concepts of Algebra o Tied to MAT 171 Grading: A, B or C are considered passing. The grade of D is not acceptable. Developmental courses carry no course credit value and do not count towards graduation requirements (needed to reach courses that do). Placement HS GPA is the first placement measure. A GPA of 2.8 or higher is the standard. Other placement measures: • SAT, ACT, GED, HiSET, RISE Placement Test scores, and previous DRE/DMA work • Earned Associate Degree or higher (Bachelors/Masters/PhD) exempts the student from developmental courses. New Student Orientation Applicants seeking to earn a certificate, diploma, or associate degree should complete new student orientation. During orientation, new students learn valuable information about Pamlico CC and the resources available to assist them in reaching their goals. Students will acquire tips to help them succeed in college and information to assist them with the advising and registration process.
