WELD1013 — Structural Fillets I
In this course, students are introduced to the tasks performed by welders and how their skills are applied to entry level welding positions in both construction and manufacturing. They will complete a ten-hour OSHA safety orientation that explains job site hazards, incident prevention, and standard safety procedures. Students will be introduced to welding using the SMAW process. Students will learn to properly prepare metal for cutting and weld operations. This includes cleaning and grinding on basic weld joint configurations. Using the SMAW process Students are expected to successfully weld overlapping beads, Horizontal fillet welds(2F), Vertical fillet welds (3F), and Overhead fillet welds (4F). The student will be introduced to welding procedure and evaluated by various weld testing methods to ensure development.
