XCD0830 — New Driver 5-Week Train Prog.
XCD 0830--New Driver 5-Week Training Program 160 Contact Hours (Offered as needed) Students will be attending a five-week program, Monday through Friday. They will be required to acquire their DOT physicals, drug screen, and Class A permits at DOT approved locations prior to the program starting. the students will learn how to conduct a full vehicle and trailer pre-trip inspection, and an air brake test (LAB test). they will learn how to perform all three controlled skill maneuvers, including straight line backing, offset backing, and a 90-degree alley dock backing. They will also learn how to drive on the road. Total hours behind the wheel of the truck will be at least 40 hours, at least 10 of which will be conducting a road trip. In addition to the hands on training, their will be lecture hours reviewing logs, hours of service, weather, and traffic conditions they will encounter. How to respond to certain scenarios as well. We will also allow them to use state-of-the-art simulator to attempt each of these types of scenarios.
