SPAN 1003 - Elementary Spanish I SPAN 1003 - Elementary Spanish I Description Introductory course designed for students beginning the college-level study of Spanish. Presentations of basic vocabulary, grammatical structures, and Hispanic culture enable the student to understand, speak, read, and write basic Spanish. Writing Write a brief biographical essay demonstrating correct usage of present tense verb conjugations, subject / verb agreement, noun / adjective agreement and vocabulary. Speaking Pronounce the alphabet in Spanish. Speak and introduce themselves, applying the use of regular and irregular verbs. Use common phrases to communicate more naturally with native Spanish speakers. Create questions to clarify and / or confirm conversational points. Aural Comprehension Demonstrate understanding of simple narrative passages that incorporate course grammar and vocabulary as spoken by native and non-native speakers through written and spoken responses. Respond correctly to simple classroom instructions given in the target language. Respond appropriately to simple conversational questions about themselves and others. General Education
