SOC2223 — Introduction to Social Work

3 Credits Introduction to Social Work focuses on major concepts and principles of professional social work, including: the development of social welfare; the history of social work; the knowledge, skills, and value base of social work; models of social work methods; and current social work practice applications. This course explores the foundational concepts behind theories of human rights, social justice, and differences within the population. The Introduction to Social Work course provides a foundation for aspiring social workers, preparing them for professional roles in both public and private sectors, including for-profit and non-profit organizations.
