ALH2111 — CPR and First Aid for Health Care Providers
1 Credits This course provides instruction and hands-on training in emergency response skills for healthcare professionals and students entering health-related fields. Emphasis is placed on the recognition and management of life-threatening emergencies, high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and effective team-based resuscitation. Students will complete certification requirements through the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers and Heartsaver® First Aid. Course content includes adult, child, and infant CPR; use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); relief of choking; management of respiratory and cardiac emergencies; and basic first aid procedures for medical, injury, and environmental emergencies. Successful completion requires demonstration of practical skills competency and passing required written and performance evaluations. Upon successful completion, students will earn American Heart Association certification cards in BLS and Heartsaver First Aid. Prerequisite: Course Level
