    "description": "This course prepares students for employment as professional commercial drivers and follows all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) rules, regulations, and guidelines . Before entering the course, all students must be 18 years old or older, have a valid Louisiana Driver's License with no flags or holds, pass a DOT physical, obtain a Louisiana Commercial Learners Permit (CLP) and pass a drug screen as required by the DO T regulations which will be entered into the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse which is maintained by the FMCSA. All students must maintain an 80% grade point average or greater according to the rules and regulation in all phases of the course including CLP, classroom theory and behind-the-wheel training. Topics that are covered are DOT rules and regulations, pre and post trip inspections, backing and maneuvering, driving on rural, urban, and interstate highways, handling cargo, hours of service, and defensi ve driving. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible to test with a Louisiana state - approved examiner for a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).",
