VCMT1550 — Imaging II
Academic Division: Business, Industry and Technology Academic Discipline: Visual Communication Media and Technology Assistant Dean: Vincent Palombo PhD 3 Credit(s) This course will expand on the vocabulary and production processes learned in VCMT 1050 - Imaging I . Emphasis will be on raster based images produced from the leading graphic software applications. Digital photography, developing images for the Internet, and more complex compositing techniques will be covered. UG 2 Lab Hour(s) 2 Lecture Hour(s); Required Demonstrate advanced techniques in imaging software including scanning, compositing, retouching, and color correction. All projects, throughout the semester. 2. Use shortcuts and keystrokes to make work more efficient. Quizzes every third week. 3. Demonstrate creativity, digital art and design principles in all projects. Be able to evaluate and critique the work of others and your own. Be able to accept criticism of your work. Projects will be evaluated for creativity, and design. Artist Statements for projects that include inspiration, explanation and reflection. Critiques on all projects. Throughout the semester. 4. Explain the difference between preparing images for print and for web. Both print and web projects. Web exercise, week #1. 5. Demonstrate good craftsmanship. 20% of each projects grade will be on craftsmanship and will include spelling, file format, proper resolution, and file organization.
