Focus will be on theories, the sequence of speech, language development (including differentiating between typical and atypical speech), the teacher as the facilitator of communication development, planning and implementing appropriate language activities, using literature to enhance language development and on providing emotional support and stimulating interest in books. Also, included is the different genres available for use with emerging literacy and how play based curriculum promotes reading readiness.
