RN206 — Maternal and Child Health Nursing
Provides an integrative, family-centered approach to the care of the mother, newborn and pediatric client. For the obstetric client, emphasis is placed on normal and high-risk clients throughout the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods. Focus for the pediatric client includes normal growth and development, family dynamics, common pediatric disorders and the promotion of healthy behaviors in patients. Analysis of factors that put family units at risk will be discussed including social determinants of health contributing to health disparities. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and clinical judgment when providing care to mothers, newborns, and children in selected settings.
