HP 1043 - Medical Terminology and Communication HP 1043 - Medical Terminology and Communication This course studies terminology used in all areas and levels of the health care professions. Course will focus on proficiency in understanding medical terminology, associated derivatives, the formation of related terms, and communication with health professionals. Special emphasis is given to root word origins, their meanings and the root families that accompany those words in the healthcare field. Students will also be taught the concept of the “communication conduit” which looks at the appropriate use of on-the-job medical terminology and how the use/meanings of words may differ between healthcare worker and patients. Lecture 3 hours per week.
