GRA216 — Exploring Photography
3 Credit(s) During this course students will explore the basics of photography: its processes, equipment, operations, history, nomenclature and purposes. The semester will be spent learning and working with the digital process and equipment, though traditional camera ops and processes will be addressed on a limited basis. Articulating the purpose of photography, types of photographs, how to critically analyze photographs, how to take more effective photographs by purposeful application of the elements and principles of design, how to manipulate a photograph in post, and how to present photos in a finished and/or creative manner will be emphasized. Peer reviews will be used to strengthen the student’s ability to coherently discuss the qualities and characteristics present in a photograph.
