NUR4870 — INFORMATICS: 3 Credits, 3 Hours
This course is designed to explore the use of informatics in nursing practice and its role in enhancing patient care to provide quality patient outcomes. The current and future impact of technology in healthcare are emphasized. The course provides an overview of various applications of information systems within the context of the healthcare system. Prerequisite: Students must have an Associate in Science-Registered Nurse degree which included theoretical instruction and clinical application in medical, surgical, obstetrical, pediatric, geriatric, and psychiatric nursing; personal, family, and community health concepts; pharmacology and administration of medications; legal aspects of practice; interpersonal relationships and leadership skills; professional role and function; health teaching and counseling skills; and clinical experience in acute care, long-term care, and community settings.
