NUR4169 — EVIDENCE BASED RESEARCH: 3 Credits, 3 Hours
This course introduces the student to the utilization of research in clinical nursing practice. This course focuses on exploration and assimilation of current scientific evidence, use of clinical judgment, and evaluation of available resources to support practice decision-making. The fundamental concepts of critical analysis and outcomes research, emphasizing the elements of evidence based nursing practice are covered. Prerequisite: Students must have an Associate in Science-Registered Nurse degree which included theoretical instruction and clinical application in medical, surgical, obstetrical, pediatric, geriatric, and psychiatric nursing; personal, family, and community health concepts; pharmacology and administration of medications; legal aspects of practice; interpersonal relationships and leadership skills; professional role and function; health teaching and counseling skills; and clinical experience in acute care, long-term care, and community settings.
