MVS1016 — GUITAR FOR NON-MUSIC MAJORS: 1 credit, 1 hour

(On Demand) This course is designed to provide a strong foundation in music fundamentals and instrumental technique for students desiring to learn to play the guitar. The course is structured to have students playing a variety of music styles in a short time. Melodic lines (lead playing), chord accompaniments, and improvisational techniques are taught using the various forms of notation and symbolism common to the guitar (e.g., standard notation, tablature, fretboard diagrams, and chord diagrams). While developing the skills necessary to play a musical instrument, students learn strategies for practicing, performing, analyzing, and composing music.
