MATH 1000 - Foundations of Algebra MATH 1000 - Foundations of Algebra 3 Class Hours This course is designed to prepare students to have the necessary skills to be successful in algebra intensive college-level mathematics courses. The curriculum provides multiple representations of applications and problem-solving, both algebraically and with the aid of technology. Topics include writing equations of lines; performing operations with polynomials and rational expressions; analysis of quadratic functions and graphs; solving linear, quadratic, and rational equations; graphing and evaluating polynomial functions; solving linear inequalities; and techniques in factoring and solving equations by factoring. Note: This course will not satisfy general education math requirements for associate degrees or technical certificates. The purpose of this course is preparation for CHEM 1110 , or MATH 1130 or 1710 for those students with a math placement level 1 upon admission or for those students who reached math placement level 2 by completing a SAILS program in high school.
