HIS 236 — North Carolina History

Prerequisites: ENG 025 Corequisites: None This course is a study of geographical, political, economic, and social conditions existing in North Carolina from America’s discovery to the present. Topics include native and immigrant backgrounds; colonial, antebellum, and Reconstruction periods; party politics; race relations; and the transition from an agrarian to an industrial economy. Upon completion, students should be able to analyze signifi- cant political, socioeconomic, and cultural developments in North Carolina. This course has been approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) and ICAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
