Medical Lab Technician
Medical laboratory technologists and technicians collect samples and perform tests to analyze body fluids, tissue, and other substances. Most work in hospitals; others work in medical and diagnostic laboratories or doctors' offices. Muskegon Community College offers an Associate's degree that can transfer to a four-year college or university. Technologists typically need a bachelor's degree; technicians usually need an associate's degree or postsecondary certificate. Employment is projected to grow 13 percent from 2016 to 2026, driven by an aging population and increased need for diagnostic procedures.
