Recreational Therapy
Recreational therapists plan, direct, and coordinate recreation-based treatment programs for people with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses, using modalities such as arts and crafts, drama, music, dance, sports, aquatics, and community outings to maintain or improve physical, social, and emotional well-being. They work in hospitals, nursing homes, and parks and recreation departments. Muskegon Community College offers an Associate in Science and Arts (ASA) designed for transfer to a four-year institution, where students can complete the bachelor's degree typically required for this profession.
