Physician
Physicians and surgeons diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses, prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, and counsel patients on preventive care. Surgeons treat injuries, diseases, and deformities through operations. Students may earn an Associate's degree at Muskegon Community College to transfer to a four-year college or university. Full physician training requires a bachelor's degree, four years of medical school, and three to seven years of internship and residency. Employment is projected to grow 13 percent through 2026, with median wages among the highest of all occupations at or above $208,000 per year.
