Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS)
An introductory survey to the interdisciplinary analysis of the historical, socio-political, economic, educational, and cultural experiences, conditions, and influences related to Indigenous Peoples in what is now called the United States. The course examines key topics from an Indigenous Peoples' perspective, such as: Colonialism, settler colonialism, racialization, domination, Indigeneity, sovereignty, de-culturalization, hegemony, land, self-determination, agency, resistance, social movements, decolonization, anti-racism, and the intersection of racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual identities.
