ART 272 — ART272 Printmaking II: Screen, Relief and Intaglio Printmaking

In Printmaking 2, students explore more advanced methods in relief and screen-printing methods, combining techniques in the same composition for more complex and rich imagery. Students are introduced to Intaglio printing techniques using copper plates, including drypoint direct incision methods and etching methods that require etching with ferric chloride. The elements and principles of design are applied to image construction, and a personal mark-making style is developed by each student. Students continue to develop their personal voice by responding to content prompts and developing imagery. Students will study the history of printmaking, how it reflects in contemporary graphic culture, and how their work is influenced by both forces.
