ART 245 — ART245 Comics and Graphic Novels

In this course students will explore and analyze the world of comics and graphic novels as art forms. Students will be using scripting, storyboarding, sequencing, panel design, page layout and inking methods to create their comics. Students will learn elements and principles of design, along with techniques in traditional analog methods and continue into digital applications for enhancements. Students will learn how to apply narrative structures in both fiction and non-fiction forms. Students study the history of the comic form, content, and graphic novels, as well as their impact on contemporary artists using these methods.
