Social Work Technician
Prepares graduates for employment in the social services field by providing understanding of the methods, skills, philosophy, and human behavior necessary to perform in a social services setting. Students learn intake, interviewing, and crisis intervention referral through agency placements. Graduates qualify for Registration as a Social Service Technician under the Michigan Bureau of Health Professions. Employment opportunities exist in social work, agency work, and substance abuse treatment. Graduates must achieve an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher, with occupational specialty courses, SOCY-191, and PSYC-281 each passed at 2.0 or higher.
