Physical Therapist Assistant
The Physical Therapist Assistant program prepares students for entry-level practice as PTAs, providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. Students learn data collection, patient interventions, clinical judgment, plan-of-care modification, discharge planning, documentation, and patient/family education. The program includes classroom instruction and clinical rotations across two years. Graduates must pass the national licensing exam (NPTE) and obtain state licensure to practice. A maximum of 24 students are admitted annually.
Prerequisites: Demonstrate College Reading Comprehension (ASCR 100) on Accuplacer OR minimum 20 on ACT or 27 on SAT within last 5 years, or satisfactory grade in RDNG-030, Successful completion of Math 115 or higher with grade of 2.0 or higher, or placement into Math 130 by MCC Placement Test, Minimum 8 hours of Physical Therapy observation/job shadowing, Submit a Supplemental Application for the PTA Program, Attendance at mandatory Pre-PTA orientation session during summer semester, Successful completion of OTPT 113 and BIO 151 with 2.5 or greater, Clear Criminal Background Investigation (CBI), Recent Physical Exam (no older than 6 months)
