POLS- 5 — Introduction to Law

Description: Fundamental concepts, central institutions, and relevant actors in American law. Examines the foundations of the American legal system, its history, structure, and development and offer students an understanding the major areas of American law, including constitutional law, administrative law, and criminal law. The course will also examine the role courts play in furthering public policy initiatives and how the law operates in the construction and perpetuation of categories such as race, gender, and other characteristics of citizens in the United States. 54.00 hours lecture.
