Description: Survey of the origins, development, and current status of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer reform and liberation movements in the United States, with particular emphasis since WWII. Includes the lives, communities, organizations, and resistance movements created by LGBTQ+ peoples from diverse racial, ethnic, and class backgrounds. Investigates the specificities of American lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer historical experiences, and studies the evolving significance and successive forms of their construction, repression, and expression in the United States. 54.00 hours lecture.
